Kathmandu Model Research Foundation (KMRF) is a not-for-profit distribution research institution promoted by Kathmandu Model College (KMC) Education Network, was established in 2008. It is an independent interdisciplinary research organization committed to addressing socio-economic development issues of the country. The vision of KMRF is to establish it as a leading research institution in Nepal. The mission of KMRF is to provide value – based services in research, training and publication. KMRF conducts research projects under contracts and grants in collaborations with governmental, non-governmental organizations and donor agencies. We also organize training programs on the research management skills development, participatory project monitoring and evaluation, proposal development and report writing.
KMRF has a seven member Management Committee headed by Chairman elected from the seven member committee. Institution’s daily operation is managed by its Managing Director.
KMRF is one of the six sister organizations of Kathmandu Model College Educational Network established in 2000 AD. KMRF specializes in the area of reproductive health, family planning, health financing, livelihood, planning and rural development and poverty issues. Its professional staffs have long years of experience in conducting baseline and endline surveys. It has a core team of competent staff to undertake studies and backup services. Besides, it maintains a pool of competent and qualified experts/consultants in a wide range of areas. The pool of professionals includes economist, sociologist, demographer, anthropologist, public health experts, rural development experts and statisticians. It maintains a large network of trained field staff, both in Kathmandu as well as at the local level for carrying out field surveys, supervised by central level trained staff as per the need.
Under contracts and grants, KMRF carries out feasibility studies, conduct field based studies, monitor and evaluate programs including impact studies. It also carries out policy research and organizes training programs on SPSS and STATA software for data analysis. It conducts surveys to seek opinion of stakeholder and disseminate its research findings in a variety of ways including thru media and print publication.
KMRF is fully equipped to be engaged in any consultancy services. It has sound logistic facilities with backup support. It has its office in a rented building in Bagh Bazar, Kathmandu. The Institutions has 4 full time staffs headed by the Managing Director. The office has 6 Pentium computers, two laptops with necessary software, two laser printers, photocopy and scanning machine, and one vehicle. It has a well-established communication system with internet/e-mail service. The computers are fully loaded with major data analysis software such as SPSS and STATA. It has a fairly good documentation of publications from government and Development Partners, various study reports and books.
